From neglect to nurture: Ruby's journey homeRuby arrived at our sanctuary in November 2023 alongside her brother, Marty. Their past had been painful. Passed from one owner to the next, they eventually landed on a large farm in Reidsville, NC, where their most basic needs were barely met. Poor nutrition, no soft bedding, no shelter, and a complete lack of love or attention left them emotionally shut down, simply surviving day by day.
Thankfully, a compassionate neighbor stepped in. She recognized their suffering and made it her mission to find them a safe, loving forever home—and that’s when Ruby’s new life truly began. A life worth livingToday, Ruby roams freely with Marty in a peaceful patch of woods. She’s surrounded by tall trees, rich soil, chirping songbirds, playful forest critters, and the calming rustle of the wind. Her cozy shelter, filled with straw, keeps her warm through rain and cold—and more importantly, she now knows what it means to be loved.
Curious, gentle, and full of heart, Ruby finally has the life every pig deserves. And she’ll be cherished here, always. |
