Marty was depressed and neglected
Marty arrived at our sanctuary in November 2023, along with his sister Ruby. The two of them had been passed from owner to owner until they ended up on a large farm in Reidsville, NC, under the care of a kind man who, despite good intentions, could no longer meet their needs.
They were overweight, lacked proper shelter, and had no cozy beds to rest in. Without attention, stimulation, or proper care, Marty and Ruby were simply existing—sad, shut down, and forgotten. Thankfully, a concerned neighbor noticed their suffering and made it her mission to find them a safe and loving forever home. That’s when they came to us. Marty will be loved foreverToday, Marty shares a beautiful patch of woods with Ruby and the rest of our pig herd. He spends his days doing what pigs are meant to do—digging, exploring, and foraging through the soil. He’s especially fond of napping in the sunshine, tucked under tall trees while a cool breeze blows across his face.
The change in Marty is undeniable. His once-dull eyes now shine with curiosity and peace. The contented look on his face says it all: he knows he’s finally home, and he’ll never have to worry about food, shelter, or love ever again. |
