Arthur was being ousted by the local HOAArthur is a bantam rooster, which means he’s basically a miniature version of the classic farmyard rooster. If you’ve never seen a bantam before, imagine a rooster with the same proud chest, dramatic crowing pose, and elegant tail feathers as the big barnyard boys—now shrink him down to about a third of the size. That’s Arthur.
But don’t let his small body fool you. Bantam roosters often come with enormous personalities, and Arthur is no exception. Like many roosters, Arthur ended up needing sanctuary simply because of his voice. Roosters are beautiful, confident birds, but they’re also famously loud. HOA rules and city ordinances often prevent people from keeping them in neighborhoods, and unlike a quiet pet, a rooster is almost impossible to hide! At Jenna & Friends Animal Sanctuary, Arthur finally has a place where he can crow proudly and strut around safely. He’s also formed a special bond with the pigs—especially Millie, the love of his life—whom he follows around the yard like a devoted little shadow.
