Penny Lane's story: From darkness to lightIn the fall of 2021, we rescued two sisters—Penny Lane and Randie Lou—from heartbreaking conditions at a farm in Jackson Springs, NC. Hidden away in a dark shed behind a house, they were living in a pit of urine-soaked mud, with no clean space, no fresh air, and no care. (Read Randie Lou and Penny Lane's rescue story.)
While Penny didn’t become dangerously overweight like her sister (a result of being fed commercial hog food), she faced different challenges. Penny was the victim of a brutal dog attack—one that left her with a permanent limp and the loss of an ear. We can only imagine the fear and pain she endured fighting for her life in such terrifying conditions. But Penny’s story didn’t end there. A true transformationToday, Penny Lane is safe, loved, and thriving. She spends her days exploring the forest, playing with her herd friends, and basking in the sun. She has access to everything she needs: clean water, nutritious food, cozy straw bedding, and a peaceful home filled with love.
Her limp is a visible reminder of what she’s survived—but it's also a symbol of her strength, and of how far she’s come. Penny’s life today is full of freedom, joy, and the simple comforts she never had before. A bond between two sistersPenny and Randie Lou have shared every step of their journey—from surviving unimaginable neglect to finding sanctuary together. Their bond is unbreakable, and watching them thrive side by side is a powerful reminder of why rescue work matters.
We’re so proud to give Penny Lane the life she’s always deserved. Welcome home, sweet girl. |
